At Charleston Candle Co., we pour more than just wax - we pour our hearts into every jar. And if you’ve ever wondered why our candles feel a little more personal, a little more like home, it’s because this isn’t just a business. It’s a family story.
From the beginning, I knew I didn’t want to build something on my own. Even before CCCo. was “official,” my family was stepping in when I needed them most, especially during those early holiday rushes when I found myself buried in orders. I’d call in a panic, and without hesitation, they’d load up their cars and head to Charleston to help however they could. That kind of support, unwavering and generous, is the foundation this business was built on.

Today, we get to work side by side, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. My husband and co-owner Chaz leads production with precision and heart, making sure every candle that leaves our shelves is something we’re proud of. He often says that there’s a different level of dedication when you’re working with family… and he’s right. Every wick, every pour, every fragrance blend is touched with intention.
My sister Kara, our Director of Operations (and my lifelong best friend), brings her organization magic and creative spirit to everything she does. Whether we’re brainstorming new collections or tackling our day-to-day, collaborating with her still feels like the sleepovers we used to have as kids—except now we’re swapping secrets about inventory and new collection concepts instead of crushes and music.

And then there’s my dad, Ronald . He brings a steady wisdom and presence to our sales efforts, always encouraging us to keep our eyes on the bigger picture. One of his greatest joys is watching all of us – Chaz, Kara, and me – not just build a successful business, but grow as individuals, parents, and leaders. He sees Charleston Candle Co. not just as a company, but as a reflection of our family’s values.

Of course, the candles themselves have a way of tying us together. Our Anniversary Candle holds special meaning for both me and my dad. It marks not just a milestone in our company’s history but a moment of pride for the whole family. For Chaz, it’s our Wadmalaw Island candle that speaks to his soul—earthy and grounded, just like he is. Kara’s favorite? Palmetto Pumpkin, always a joyful signal that fall has arrived. And for me, the Anniversary Candle is a reminder of how far we’ve come—and how bright the next chapter could be, especially as we look toward our 10-year celebration in 2026.

But if you ask who our most enthusiastic team members are, it’s undoubtedly the kids. Charlie, Emmi, and Noah may be small, but their pride is big. They love being part of the CCCo. story - whether it’s tagging along to the shop, playing in the background of a photo shoot, or simply being surrounded by the hustle and creativity of our day-to-day. Their favorite part is that “we get to be part of the family business.” And honestly, I can’t think of anything better.

Running a small business as a family is full of challenges, but it’s also full of heart. We often say that when you step into our flagship store, you feel like family. That’s because you are. Whether you’ve supported us since our early days or just lit your very first Charleston Candle Co. candle, you’re part of the story we’re writing together—one scent, one season, one moment at a time.
So tell us— what’s your favorite Charleston Candle Co. scent or memory? We’d love to hear in the comments below, or tag us in your moments on Instagram (@charlestoncandleco) — we’d love to welcome your story into ours.
With love,
